Let's first get to know about Jaipur.

Brief History of Jaipur

The capital city of Rajasthan, Jaipur is the 10th most populated city in the country. Jaipur was founded by the Rajput King, Raja Jai Singh II in 1727, after whom the city is named. Jaipur was the first modern city after the independence of India and is considered the most well-planned and organized city in the country. Jaipur is the most popular tourist destination, forming the Golden Triangle circuit along with Delhi and Agra.

Jaipur is full of traditional culture and classical history.

Jaipur was constructed in a grid system with wide straight routes, streets, and roads in a uniform way. The shops are arranged in a symmetrical way on either side of the main road, organized in nine rectangular city sectors called Chokdis. The whole city is encircled by a wall with seven gates, built for protection from outsiders. The city planned by Jai Singh withstands all the changes and pressures, even now.

Wondering why Jaipur is known as "The Pink City"?

There is a mystical story behind the Pink color of the city.
During the rule of Sawai Ram Singh I, the city was painted into a fresh shade of pink color to welcome Queen Victoria's husband, Prince Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, in 1876. Since then, the city had been called Pink City
